Tire Conservation - How To Fix And Avoid A Flat Tire

Wheels rack. Proper tire pressure is one of the most important parts of maintaining tire care. Proper inflation is essential for the most favorable performance, safety, and also to have the best fuel efficiency for your vehicle.
Try to check the pressure of your tires often. If you have been driving your vehicle and need to check your pressure, you should wait at least 3 hours before reading the gauge to get an accurate reading.
The inflation pressure that is given on the sidewall of the tire is the maximum pressure, and it may not be the best pressure amount for your vehicle.
Over Inflation
When your tire is over inflated, it can cause several problems. Over inflation has increased stiffness which can worsen ride and create unwanted vibrations in your vehicle.
High pressure also causes the spread of the shock load to the suspension and lessens the ability to absorb road impacts.
It can also reduce rolling resistance which will slightly improve on steering response and cornering ability. Over inflation will distort the tread to where it bulges.
It will also reduce contact with the road and amplify the wear on the center of the tire.
Under Inflated
It can also cause severe cracking, part separation “blowout”, in the midst of an unforeseen loss of vehicle control and accident.
It will increase the sidewall flexing and rolling resistance which results in heat and mechanical harm.
It will also reduce the ability to bear vehicle load and transmit cornering, braking and acceleration strength.
When the tire is under inflated, it loosens more and leads to uneven tread. It also lessens grip from the road more easily which can lead to skidding during braking or hard cornering. For the safety of you, your loved ones and others on the road, it is very important to check the tire pressure often and correctly to decrease the chances of a preventable accident. Buy a gauge that is easily used and readable, check when they are still cold, and check them often. This will also help save on the amount you spend on fuel. Proper inflation specified by the owner’s manual is the safest and most fuel economic way to drive your vehicle.
Everyone knows that a flat tire can ruin the day. The main cause of a flat tire is a foreign object, an inexperienced driver and improper use or care of the tire. We suggest to carry an all-purpose repair kit when going out. You will need these tools to help you repair the flat tire. First, locate the hole on your ATV’s tire. Then remove the foreign object if there is one. To see if the ATV’s tire leaks pump air to 10 psi in the tire then put some soapy water over the hole. If bubbles are made then you have a leak and it needs to be repaired. Insert the rough reamer in the hole to clean it and heat up the rubber. After insert a new rope style plug in the insertion tool. Force the rope in the puncture hole. To correct this situation add a second rope in the hole. Now cut off the excess rope but keep enough to have a knobby height. You are ready to pump air back in the ATV’s tire. To much air will cause your ATV to slide more and not enough will increase your traction. But will also increase your risk of getting a sidewall puncture or the bead breaking loose from the rim.
Another way to repair a flat tire on an ATV that has a large sidewall tear would be to go down to your local tire shop and have them install a think sidewall patch called a boot. Use one that is strong and flexible enough to repair large sidewall puncture. Also, you will need to install an inner tube in your ATV’s wheel. It might cost a few dollars to do this type of repair but when it comes down to it, this is cheaper then buying a new ATV tire. The first one is to use a liquid sealant that is placed inside the ATV’s tire through the valve before it’s filled with air. The liquid sealant will coat the under side of the tread as the wheel turns. The sealant will seal off any small puncture holes as they happen from the inside. This is only good for small holes.
It’s a foam that is placed inside the ATV’s tire and when a flat occurs the foam keeps the tire in its original shape. The tire will not go flat and there is no need to stop.
Our last suggestion are the tire balls. During the mounting process of the ATV’s wheels many oval shaped rubber balls get placed inside the tire. If a puncture hole happens only one chamber will loose its air pressure and the ATV’s tire will keep its shape. Chambers can be changed individuality.
